Our Ethics

Ethical trading is not a new trend for Pier32. It has been part of our make up for many years and is something we strongly believe in and promote to all of our customers. It is our key objective to make sure that all of our suppliers and manufacturers demonstrate exceptionally high standards of ethical and ecological production. We are proud that many of the companies that we deal with have been independently certified and we will help and support others as they strive to achieve those same levels.

The legal, ethical and moral rights of all workers in our supply chain – from whichever part of the world – are paramount and we will not work with any suppliers who use forced or child labour or who employ children under the legal employment age.

WRAP Certification
An abbreviation for Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production, WRAP is an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to the certification of lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing throughout the world. Their principles include the prohibition of forced and child labour, prohibition of abuse and discrimination, fair rates of pay and benefits and the provision of a safe and secure working environment. WRAP only certify production facilities that meet their strict criteria and detailed inspections. Brands with garments made in WRAP certified factories include Starworld, Gildan, Hanes, Russell, Henbury, Skinnifit, Finden & Hales, and Front Row. Further information can be found at the WRAP website.

Fair Wear Foundation
The Fair Wear Foundation aims to improve labour conditions in the garment industry. It is an international verification initiative dedicated to enhancing workers’ lives all over the world and works closely with a growing number of companies that produce clothing and other sewn products and that take responsibility for their supply chain. Their principles include the prohibition of forced and child labour, prohibition of abuse and discrimination, fair rates of pay and benefits and the provision of a safe and secure working environment. Brands with Fair Wear Foundation membership include Continental, Earth Positive and B&C Collection. Further information can be found at the FWF website.

Fairtrade Certified
Probably one of the most recognised certifications that a product can achieve. In the case of clothing it tends to apply to the fabric, particularly cotton, rather than the garment itself, but is still an excellent indicator of ethical production. Brands using Fairtrade cotton include Wombat and B&C Collection. Further information can be found at the Fairtrade website.

Organic Certifications
There are a number of organisations that certify cotton as organic. Brands that use organic cotton to produce garments include Starworld, Continental, Earth Positive.
